Just a note about this. Because KC and I are going to be a Ma and Pa on Trek they asked all of us to share our conversion stories with the priests and laurels at their conference this year. It was really neat to think back and figure out defining points in my life where I knew the gospel was true. I would share them but they are too personal for this. I have recorded it though so that I can remember.
The funny thing was that they had like 14 classrooms for the youth to go to. They assigned them numbers and rooms to go to. We thought the chances of being with K are not likely. We wanted to give her her space and to let her hear from someone else. Well, no she and a bunch of other girls from our ward got assigned to our classroom. I guess for some reason they needed to hear the conversion stories from those in our classroom. It was fine but it was funny.

K goes to Prom

Is she really that old? Am I really that old? I guess so. One morning she found on the front porch a bunch of pennies with letters on them. She had to put it together to find the name of the person that was asking her.
She responded by putting a bunch of easter eggs on his lawn and only one of them said yes!
We found this really pretty dress but it was very immodest so I had to totally alter it so that she could wear it. It worked. I was even amazed. And the best part of it all was that it did not cost us $300.
They had a friday date on friday and they went up to a cabin and did some skeet shooting. They had pizza and smores. They had parent supervision so that was great.
Saturday they went to the Capitol for the dance. She looked so beautiful in her dress. But she is always beautiful no matter what she wears. She had a fun time!

Sister's Fireside

AKA Visiting Teaching Conference. We planned it as a fireside in the hopes to get more sisters to attend. When people hear VT they think they will be lectured on VT and they don't come. It was lots of work but well worth it.
I did speak on visiting teaching and shared a few experiences. We had a few other sisters share their experiences also. To end the night I wanted to give them a little gift to take home. I thought of giving a CD with music from the fireside. But I could not buy the rights to give everyone the song so I did a slideshow of Christ with the music to "His Hands" being sung by a sister in our ward. We had to record the song. Thanks to KC for that, and then we had to copy CD's for 160 sisters in the ward. The whole thing was so beautiful and the spirit was so strong there. We still did not get as many sisters there as we would have liked but there was enough.
I am thankful for the opportunity to serve in various capacities because no matter what calling I have I always learn a lot!

General Conference

Such a wonderful weekend. I love hearing all of the inspired words. President Monson is a remarkable man. I did a report in a church history class at BYU on him, so I feel like I know him.
I can't even begin to mention the wonderful things that were said so here is a link to the 178th Annual General Conference, April 2008. I love to go and listen to the talks at random times when I need to be reminded of things.

K is doing early college

They have this program where she can take HS and college classes at the same time. She will have to take some classes at the University but most of them will be concurent enrollment. If she gets her associates degree by the fall when she graduates from high school she will earn and 75% scholarship for 2 years to any University in the state. So she is doing it! We think it is a wonderful way to get your GE's out of the way and to pay for the rest of the undergrad classes. She can still get other scholarships and use them both. It will be a challenge but she can do it!
Maybe she should go to Chuck E Cheese U!!! She's so silly!

Spring Break
Well, it wasn't really a spring break. The kids had Friday and Monday out of school. They were dying to see their cousins so we went to SLC and met with them at Chuck E. Cheese. We had a great time. The kids played. We talked. G destroyed napkins. We decided not to eat there cause the pizza is not that great and it is over priced. So we went to Panda Express instead. It's nice to have family close by.

Easter
The Easter Bunny comes to our house on Saturday instead of Sunday because he knows that on Easter Sunday we remember Christ's resurection. We are lucky that here all of the Easter egg hunts are on Saturday. The Easter Bunny told us this year that next year he will only bring the eggs to hunt for and nothing so that we have an easier time focusing on the Savior.
But for this year... The eggs were all over our family and living rooms. The kids love to get up and search for eggs. He also brought a WII game and a couple of DVDs. KC's parents were here in the morning but had to go home right after breakfast. It's so nice to have them come visit us.

After that we went to the city's Easter egg hunt. They divide up the kids in age groups. C went with S since we have the look young thing going in our family. K was just too old but she used G as an excuse to go. She was helping G figure out what in the world was going on.
This year I made the girls skirts and bought them shirts to go with them. I think they turned out cute.

We got together at our house with the "relatives" and the kids (it's tradition) did an egg hunt for J and S in our back yard.

The Wizard of Oz

The Elementary school put on the production of the Wizard of OZ and S had the part of The Tin Man. She did a wonderful job. She did great on her solo. Such a good little actress. Too bad the Jr. High doesn't do plays. She will miss these great opportunities that she has had the past few years. These teachers just donate all of their time so that the kids can have this opportunity.
KC's parents came out to see her from Wyoming. My parents and Z and kids also came to see her perform. S felt pretty special!

Basketball
We've had a streak of Basketball fun going around.

The girls have been playing YW Basketball. They made it to regional. Their first game was on Thursday and they won by one point! It was a very tense game. Their next game was Saturday at 8:00am and they won again! So they made it to the final 2. They played again at 11:00 but they did not win. They were awesome though! K and C are pretty good defenders. It was fun going to watch their games.

C has been playing with the men also. And surprisingly enough he has not gotten hurt this season. He had to referee one game and that was a bad experience for him. Church ball can be kind of scary sometimes.
C and I went to a Jazz game last week. We had some friends in our ward that could not go so they gave us their tickets. They were really good seats. We were so excited since we had never been to a game before. We went to the Gateway and had dinner and then walked over to the Energy Solutions Arena. S babysat G cause K and C already had other babysitting jobs. The Jazz played against the Denver Nuggets and it was an easy win for them. We had a fun time!
