New York City Day 4

Friday April 5, 2013

We had to go get passes for our bus tour that we wanted to do on Saturday morning.  We stood in line forever at Madame Tussauds.  It looked kind of interesting, maybe next time we will go in.

Then we started our walk towards Central Park via 5th Avenue.

We just happened to see Grand Central Station along the way.

Just one of the coolest places for me.  I don't know why but I've always been fascinated by Grand Central Station.  I love the business guy in the background walking swiftly to get to his destination.

American Girl Place

We made it to Central Park and we decided to go on a carriage ride around the park.

It was a beautiful day in New York City.  The warmest day so far!  And what a perfect day to be at Central Park.

This picture makes me :) Just an awesome day!

Alice in Wonderland

Just another beautiful view.

As we were walking through the park we saw these Wafles & Dinges cart.  They sold all waffles topped with pretty much whatever you want.  We had already had lunch so S and I decided to share one.  Well it was just delicious!!!

We made it to the MET (Metropolitan Museum of Art).  It was huge!!! 5 levels full of famous art from around the world.  It reminded me of the museums in Washington DC.  We only saw some of it cause the girls were already tired and we had done a lot of walking.

Our night show on Friday was a Julliard Repertoire Recital.  We had to make it back to Lincoln Center but we still had a lot of time to kill so instead of taking a Taxi we decided to walk back through Central Park.  And guess what we saw again along the way...!!! Oh yeah the Wafels and Dinges Stand!!! With all of the walking we had done today we all figured we deserved another one.  S and I got our own this time! We just could not get enough of this stuff!

We found some benches to sit and enjoy and we looked really funny 10 girls sitting in a row eating waffles.  Everyone that passed by smiled at us and we were even told that we should be advertising for them.

Then the best sight ever in the middle of NYC... The New York City Temple. What a special blessing to go on a trip like this we five virtuous young women and their moms.  We all have the same values and we didn't have to worry about being tempted to do something that wasn't good because we all had the same beliefs and values.  We were going to try and have the girls do baptisms for the dead but we just did not have enough time to fit it in to our schedule.

We had like half an hour before the Julliard show was to start so we went into a store to just browse.  We found this little corner where we could sit while we waited for those that were puchasing stuff.  I think you can see in our faces how tired we were.

The show at Julliard was good but interesting.  It was all modern.  It only had three dances but each one was like 20 minutes long.  Some interesting facts about Julliard.  Tuition $35,000. Shared room $13,000.   Books and supplies $3,000.   So about $51,000 per year to attend Julliard.

After the show we took the subway back to Times Square and we went to the Top of the Rock.  It was soooo windy and cold.  We didn't last too long up there!

We walked around just a little bit and then we went to our hotel room just exhausted.  When we got to our floor we realized that we had only walked 11.9 miles so we walked around our floor a couple of times to bring our walking total for the day to an even 12 miles!!!

Miles walked on Friday:  12 miles
