February 10, 2019 - Rome

We made it to Rome. We took the train into the city and we had like half hour to shower and change so we could go to church! Ohh we were tired but we had no time to sleep! And in order to adjust we had to just make it through the day!

Here we are walking to church going uphill with Casey in the lead with google maps!

The chapel was so full because there were so many people there for the temple open house from all over the place. They had to put people in various classrooms to fit everyone in.

After church, on a train to see some sights.

Emil and Ruti

Mami, Papi and Manuel (Ruti's nephew that is studying in Europe). He was my parent's buddy and assistant!

We got off the train and just started walking to see all of the sights. This is Palatine Hill.

Fun first day in Italy! We were exhausted at the end but it was worth it!

February 9, 2019 - On our way to Rome

A while ago we talked about going to Rome for the temple open house with Derick and Cat. Well as we planned our trip a few others joined the trip like Ruti and Emil and my parents. The day finally came :) Casey and I went to the airport and found out that our flight was delayed and we might not be able to make our connection to Rome in San Francisco! There was too much rain and the San Francisco airport was limiting the number of airplanes that could land/depart. We went through security and then we got thinking that maybe we should go talk to them and see if there were any other options. We found another flight that went through New York. We would fly over night but we would still get to Rome in the morning. So we decided to take this route and we ended up with a day in NYC! Our flight didn't leave till later that night so we took the front runner and went to City Creek for a while in the meantime.

Having breakfast in NYC and getting out of the cold!

F.A.O Schwartz

To pass the time we went on a tour of Radio City Music Hall

This was an awesome table that we saw on the tour. The table can be two sizes.

These are all of the hydraulics that they use to run a show.

Even from the very to you can see really well!

Such a fancy building

I wish we could have seen Hamilton but there were no shows during the day

At about 4pm we were back at the airport and we were finally ready to continue our adventure!

February 2019

This blog has just general stuff that we did in February. In February we also went to Italy but I will do different posts for that trip cause there are too many pictures to do in one.

We went up to North Fork to go snowshoeing. It's like our annual tradition. We saw these moose just sitting there!

Superbowl Sunday

I have to throw some awesome bits of information here every once in a while.

Stay tuned!

Sidney performed in this show. Of course she was amazing and this picture!!!

January 2019

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Since we didn't have enough time to do this gingerbread house before Christmas we decided to do it after. Why not?

Zildy and I had to take a quick trip to Boston/NYC so that we could get our DPI (Guatemalan ID). We had to do it at an embassy and we figured this worked out best because Derick could go with us. We spent the weekend in Boston and then went to NYC on Monday.

Cat treated us to eat at The Shaking Crab! It was delicious!

We even got to go to church with these twins :)

OK. Kiki and Nala are soooo cute!

On the Subway in NYC :)

It was so cold and all we could do to pass the time was go to Chelsea Market, kind of like a mall and hang out for about an hour until our appointment time. There are a lot of places to eat and just a few shops and it was warm :)

We made it to the Guatemalan Consulate. They took our names and then we just had to wait for them to call us up. Just like in Guatemala.

We did it! They made us go get envelopes and stamps from the post office and they took our picture and finger prints and asked us some questions. But after of couple of hours we were able to finish our application.

Afterwards, we were hungry and we looked around and found this Indian restaurant. This was the sampler plate that we ordered and it was delicious! It was a good way to try lots of different foods.

We all flew back home that same night so after eating we went back to the airport.

Time to celebrate Gracie's and Trevar's birthdays

Gracie's science fair board on popcorn

We had tickets to see the Wizard of Oz at Hale Center Theatre but Casey had to go to the city council meeting to present on the lot subdivision so Gracie and I got to go together.

Casey and Carina went snowboarding

We went and helped package meals. Gotta love the hairnets!
